Resources Wichita Named Number One Top Metro for First Time Home Buyers in 2023

December 7, 2022

Where is the best place to buy a home? According to a Zillow article published today, Wichita is named number 1 in the top 10 best metros for first-time home buyers in 2023. It’s no secret that the market has shifted since the pandemic fueled frenzy of residential activity – with homes being sold in hours, purchased sight-unseen, and oftentimes, tens of thousands of dollars above appraised value.

This was a rare and monumental time and was a first even for our owner, Jeff Lange, in his 40+ years of real estate experience. As 2023 approaches, markets are starting to witness adjustments and signs of more normalized times.

Wichita has reached the top of the list for being a city where people spend the smallest share of their income on mortgage costs and rent.

Here is the list published by Zillow:

  1. Wichita, KS
  2. Toledo, OH
  3. Syracuse, NY
  4. Akron, OH
  5. Cleveland, OH
  6. Tulsa, OK
  7. Detroit, MI
  8. Pittsburgh, PA
  9. St. Louis, MO
  10. Little Rock, AR

With the power of real estate negotiations coming back into play vs. the absence of this in prior months, opportunities to purchase homes in a more reasonable nature and price are more likely.

Lange Real Estate is always ready to talk and answer any of your home-buying and selling questions.

Another trend to consider on your journey to buying a home is zero-entry home design, or homes that lack steps or stairs that could impede accessibility. This trend isn’t just relegated to patio homes and has become popular for good reason. If zero entry sounds like a good fit for your family but you’re not looking for a patio home community, consider one of our four new home developments in 2023. With a variety of lot sizes available, we can help you find the perfect neighborhood for your next home.
